Buying property in Australia

A 2010 study by Knight Frank, the international real estate firm, found that the Australia property market was among the top four in the world for price growth.

While continuing to live overseas, you can rent out your Australian property with the rental income helping to service your mortgage. It also means you have a place to live in when you return home.

Non-resident mortgages are payable in any of six currencies, including the US dollar. Generally the borrowing level can be up to 80% of the property value. Transactions can be made over the phone or by email. You don't have to be in Australia in person.

Property investors who are not Australian citizens or do not hold permanent residency are welcome to buy in Australia but there are some regulatory conditions that need to be met.
